Little World was a 2D Survival Sandbox game inspired by Minecraft, Forager, and Terraria. The game started development shortly after I canceled my first ever game project, Ruins of Mounri. I have tried rewriting the game two times within GameMaker and even began working on a very similar project in August 2025. At this point in time, I don’t think Little World is a project I want to pursue at the moment, but I am always open to remaking the project or developing one similar.

History, Information, and Fun Facts
-
In May 2021 I began the project working on a project called Ambrosia / Codename: Ambrosia, shortly after the cancelation of my game Ruins of Mounri. I had played a little bit of Forager, and since that game was made in GameMaker, I began the project by seeing if I could replicate certain elements of that game.

While this project started as a bit of a clone, I wanted to include something unique in the game. This was the sanity system. The player’s sanity had six stages: sane, stable, uneasy, anxious, paranoid, and insane. The overall goal of this system was to affect mobs in the game, ideas ranged from making more scary mobs appear or making mobs harder to fight against. Light was going to have an impact on this system. Nights would not only be a challenge but an obstacle. This system was scrapped early on and none of the systems (except the UI) were implemented.
-
Building on the Sanity System, I also wanted enemies in the game called Skinwalkers. These would have been inspired by real Native American legend, but not in any way made to be an accurate representation. These mobs would have been large monsters with deer antlers. (If memory serves correct, I wanted to make them humanoid but would walk on all 4 limbs.)
The idea was scrapped because of the complexity, the scrapping of the sanity system, and becase I felt making pixel art of a monster of this size would have been too difficult. While being scrapped early on, I would constantly think of this.

While not exactly “hellish,“ Little World did have a peroid of time where I wanted to theme it sort of like the Greek Underworld. The code name Ambrosia was a nod to Greek Mythology, and the name, Asphodel was a reference to the Asphodel Meadows in the Greek Underworld.
The idea of sanity and some scary elements like skinwalkers was part of this theme. Although, the game was never intended to be a horror game.
-
The project has gone by at least four names:
Ambrosia (Codename: Ambrosia)
Asphodel
Asphodelos (2023)
Little World
Naming games has never been a strength of mine…

*Cannot find the idea sheet I had for this.
Despite not being released, I briefly though of creating a spin off of Little World. LW: Lost in Space would have been a space exploration game where you travel from planet to planet to get back to Earth. This game would have had an underlying story and would feature about 8 worlds you must traverse to refuel your spaceship. Some would be destinations you must pick between. Wormholes would also exist yo take you to optional worlds that would be easter eggs such as Tatooine, Hoth, and Jarillo-VI. Gameplay would include mining, manufacturing, and trading with local alien species.

Stemming from 2021-23 with multiple breaks, hiatuses, delays on expected timelines, etc. I wanted to rewrite the entirety of Little World on a few occasions. Only two attempts occurred, both still using the GameMaker engine. A port to Godot was considered but never acted upon. The first rewrite attempt occurred in late 2023 with the second attempt in late 2024.
In August 2025, I began work on a similar project to Little World. This was not a rewrite but given the similarities, I considered making it very similar to Little World including the use of assets.

The mind is not a file cabinet, and much of my ideas for Little World were only laid out in my mind. Because of this, details of this information is subject to change and new information may be added.
